What age of children is this material used for?
Children aged 6-12 will benefit the most; some 5 year olds are ready to move on to elementary level work (if you have a 5 year old and don’t know if you should start with primary or elementary, please contact me and we will discuss your specific situation). Middle and high schoolers can also benefit, especially through cosmic education, but the material will not be sufficient to count as a complete high school level program. The 12-14 year old may still benefit from the use of the elementary albums, utilized as a foundation for their personal studies.

Do you offer a primary level Montessori course for preschoolers and kindergarteners?
Yes. Keys of the World is available through Garden of Francis and at its own website – purchase the complete set of albums, videos and the complete online support; the course requirements are listed on the online support.

Another option is Karen Tyler over at KHT Montessori offers primary level albums and mentoring for a great price. We are not affiliated with each other, offering our courses entirely independently, but our goal is the same – get Montessori into the hands of those who otherwise couldn’t attend training.

Can I access all the albums right away?
Paying in full grants you immediate access to the complete albums as well as the individual files. The file segments comprise portions of a variety of albums in typical order of usage – paying in segments, you will ultimately have complete albums at the end. You can begin to work with your children from day 1.

What is the difference between the 8-segment and 16-segment courses? Will the 16-segment course have twice the material as the 8-segment?
The difference? Price for individua payments, and how long it takes to get from point A to point Z.
Twice the material? No. The final price is the same; you get the same amount of material 🙂

Will I have access to a mentor?
Yes, each course participant has free access to one-on-one consultations with the Jessica  indefinitely. Discussion boards are also permanently available.

Can I have a consultation without taking the course?
Yes, online support for each album is available. Please see this page for information on our individual subjects online support – each subject has a support album in process, and each subject’s support comes with access to those portions of the discussion board. Via the discussion board and private e-mail, you will have access to many downloadable materials, suggestions, advice and more.

Does anything have a due date?
No due dates – but we provide suggestions for the adult assignments from the course syllabus. We will provide you the information you need – usually more than enough for a month, so that you can work with your child to the extent your situation allows. Each segment allows you to move at your own pace. You will receive another set of album pages from a variety of albums, with additional information – access it as you need it; it will be there when you are ready for it and you will have permanent access to it.

How does your course compare to Karen Tyler’s Primary Montessori Course?
Karen and I run our courses entirely independently – and they cover different material for different planes of development. Primary covers ages 2 1/2-6. This elementary course covers at least ages 6 through 12, and many areas can continue to be used by middle school students. You also have access to a permanent discussion forum and one-on-one e-mail support. There will also be access to free and discounted materials throughout the course.

Keys of the World is Montessori homeschool course directly related to the Keys of the Universe offerings.

How does your course compare to Elizabeth Papandrea’s Elementary albums?
Elizabeth’s album are very similar to mine in many regards – we both have AMI elementary training and our albums are very, very similar. While she is selling her albums as-is to the general public, I am offering additional features, including adaptations for homeschools and public school requirements, additional subject matter, e-mail consultation, online discussion community, and much more. In addition, I am continuing to teach Montessori as I am providing this course, both as a homeschool mother and the teacher in a primary/elementary co-op; I also mentor parents in Montessori homeschooling and provide consultation for a small number of Montessori schools.

I am no longer offering a discount for those who have purchased Elizabeth’s Papandrea’s albums. The services I offer are above and beyond the album content itself, such that the album content is actually free in comparison 🙂

Will I receive a certificate at the completion of this course?
This course is not a (work-intensive, expensive) certifying course – you will have everything you need to use the Montessori method* with your own children and others; and many schools will hire teachers and assistants with this form of training. If you are in an area that has *no* access to Montessori training, and people want the Montessori method for their children, this training is perfect for you!
***Certificates of completion are available for a small additional charge, and a handful of required assignments – more information can be found by clicking here.

*So does this course provide me with all the Montessori materials?
No. I can’t do that! Even the expensive $3500-20,000 accredited Montessori training centers can’t provide all the materials 🙂 However I will provide anything I can in download form, and we will discuss what could be readily made, as well as the best places for purchasing materials. **Not every child needs every material** so bulk purchases are not always the best for your budget in the long-term. We discuss these details on our discussion community.

What homeschool support is available?
We can’t fill out any forms for you, but we can provide scope and sequence suited to your local requirements; subject area descriptions; etc. As homeschoolers need items that have not yet been provided, we work with you to create the formatting you need.
Note: the mentor (me) is a homeschool mom herself, albeit in a location with no reporting requirements as of yet.

Will this course have any religious slant?
There is no intentional religious slant to this course, and all religions are represented fairly. As for evolution and other “hot-topics”, adaptations are provided when available, or an appropriate one will be developed (with the group or with the mentor) so that each person will have suitable album pages and presentations for their particular situation.

So… will this course include any Montessori religious education?
There is an area in the discussion boards to specifically discuss the use of Montessori for religious education and faith formation, both in general and in use by programs such as Godly Play, Young Children and Worship and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Anyone interested in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Catholic-rooted experience readily adaptable to most Christian denominations, can contact me directly for further information on the integration of CGS and academic Montessori.
